Punjabi Movies Keep the Traditions of Punjab Alive

Punjabi movie help to keep the traditions and values of Punjabi culture alive. With the community that loves cinema and TV, and where still many people, unfortunately, can not read, the movies become the stories that unite the community. This type of entertainment helps to develop the community as well. Unfortunately, there are not so many Punjabi movies made as in some other branches of Indian cinema, like Bollywood, Tamil, Kannada, or Malayalam cinema industry manage to produce. Still, there are some very great films. One important factor of the movies in India is that they do gift the audience also with amazing music. Many popular punjabi show come from the movies as well.

Some of the ever best Punjabi movies are Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai, Chan Pardesi, Hashar... A love story, Mannat, and Des Hoyaa Pardes. Of course, there are some more, but I would like to highlight a few of them here. Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai is from the end of the 1960s - it is a religious movie that is presenting an important Sikh culture festival. Punjabi song from that movie are devotional and still loved by so many in Punjab today. The song Mere Sahib is magical realism.

Hashar... A love story is one of the new Punjabi movie. It was released in 2008. Again one of the reasons why this movie is so loved is thanks to the great Punjabi songs. One of the current big stars of Punjabi music, Babbu Mann is singing Aaj din hashar da Kal main nai rehna in this film.
